The IMOCA Class  of Sailing Boats was created in 1991 and is recognized by ISAF (International Sailing Federation). The IMOCA60 Boat is the Flagship of the IMOCA Class , which is an Open Monohull of 60 ft; 18.28 M. It is considered one of the fastest and safest Boats for sailing the  World Oceans.

The IMOCA60 boats are mostly used in Ocean Racing in an International field and looks for competition, innovations, some sailing adventures with maintaining good Safety. The IMOCA60 Boat is a boat that can be sailed proper by one  person, solo-sailing or by a team. The Auto-pilot was the featured that made this possible.

Development is on-going. During the years the Stern has grown wider, in 1998 the canting keel was introduced and regular improvements on rigging and sails are made. Nowadays the boats have computers and internet transmission systems on-board to receive actual weather data and transmit boat-positions, audio and video messages to the World.
